When is the best time to insert shoe trees into shoes after use?

I have several pairs of very nice and expensive shoes that I have cedar shoes trees that I use with them, but my question pertains to the time that I insert the shoe trees. Should I insert them right after I take my shoes off, or wait a while, or insert them the next morning?
